Techniques and Care

Techniques and Care

My pieces are created on Canadian made cradled birch panels.

Panels are usually 1.5 inch gallery style thickness.  I periodically work on 0.5 inch thick. The image of the work will wrap the edges of the piece,  with no need for framing.

I paint using acrylic paint. I use a multitude of layers to add dimension to my work, including but not limited to washes, dry brushing and my signature pallet knife techniques.

Pieces typically include touches of metallic medium, copper, gold or silver. These act as jewels within what is primarily monochromatic work to draw viewers deeper into the piece.

I finish my work with artist quality resin, high gloss varnish or matte (raw).

Each finish provides a different allure to the work (Ask the artist to learn more about each).

All pieces should be handled gently with the utmost care.

Regardless of selected finish you should never clean the surface of a piece with any chemicals or cleaners. It will damage the work.

High UV exposure can alter or damage a piece over time regardless of finish.

All pieces should be hung with proper hardware according to the size of the piece.

All pieces are final sale.

Care of Resin

I currently work with Art Resin. This is a high quality artist resin product. This product contains UV stabilizers and HALS ( hindered amine light stabilizers ) to prevent yellowing of the work. Customers should follow Art Resin Care instructions to ensure longevity of the work. Never use chemical or vinegar based cleaners  to clean the surface of a resin piece.

UV, chemicals and heat can breakdown polymers in the resin causing damage to the work.

It is recommended that you limit sun/UV and heat exposure for any resin piece to preserve longevity of the work.
